In a nutshell: This paper details a summary of the findings of the eighth critical appraisal from the Primary Care Dentistry Research Forum.  International studies suggest that smoking cessation in dentistry is effective, however there is not enough evidence to assess whether the interventions are cost-effective.  UK studies show that Private dental practices deliver more smoking cessation interventions than NHS dentists and no studies were found evaluating the cost-effectiveness of the intervention in the UK.
